Book Review: As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing great <3 Just wanted to say that I have now officially made a book review website! I'll still be posting on here as well, but I guess there's going to be extra random posts on there and also sneak peaks ;) I won't be posting regularly on there like I do here, just whenever I feel like it. Feel free to check it out here: Home | Just a Grape (wixsite.com)

I also wanted to inform you guys that next week I'm going to take a break from reviewing. (Don't worry, just for one week!) I was wondering what kind of stuff you guys would like to post. I'm still deciding, but halfway through the week I will put up a question on the forums letting you guys vote from some of the options people give me. I'll be back with my reviews after this! I just wanted to give you guys a wider range of posts ❤

With that out of the way, let's begin the review 😆

DEAD GIRL WALKING

Pip Fitz-Amobi is haunted by her last investigation. But soon a new case finds her and this time it's all about Pip.

She has a stalker, one who keeps asking: Who will look for you when you're the one who disappears?

Pip soon discovers a connection between her stalker and a local serial killer, but the police refuse to act. As the dangerous game plays out it's clear that if Pip doesn't find the answers, she's as good as dead.

I'm back with the third book of the AGGGTM trilogy by Holly Jackson! Well, as you guys already know, I absolutely LOVED the other two books. This one was a lot darker and I felt like the beginning was REALLY slow - I mean, the book was 500 something pages and the first around 300 pages were pretty boring. I understand why Holly Jackson spent the first half of the book focusing on Pip's character development, but come on! I skipped sooo many pages cuz I was getting bored. The other half of the book was amazing though, I loved it soo much! 😍😍

There was a lot of things I didn't understand about this book. Especially the ending! But this book brought all the books together, and linked a lot of the events that happened in the first book to now (does that make any sense?) And I know it sounds like I didn't like this book but I'll talk about the good things soon ;) The ending does leave an opportunity for another book so if there is going to be one then I'm reading it straight away. Full stop.

I wasn't sure whether to give this book four or five stars because there was a lot that I didn't like, in the end I decided on four - it's a really good book but there was some elements that just didn't, you know, click for me.

I forgot about adding pizzazz 🥵 so here you go 🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇 (just reminding you, grapes are amazing and have immense ✨power✨ like me) I highly recommend As Good As Dead, though it's directed more at older teens, covering a lot of topics like rape, violence, drugs, kidnapping etc.

I gave this book four stars but that's not a bad thing! I would be really happy if I got three stars from me, to be honest. I'm picky and I get bored of books pretty easily if I have to read a lot (and if you see my insanely huge TBR Wishlist on my website, you'll see why).

Pippa has changed a lot from AGGGTM where she was looking into the Andie Bell case and enjoying it. Holly Jackson handles her changes perfectly, making the change not feel too abrupt and developing it. It makes sense that she's changed, after all the trauma that she's been through and seen. I mean, I'm pretty sure watching someone die does NOT help your stress levels. She's also had to buy drugs from Luke Eaton because she can't sleep at night and she doesn't want Ravi and her family to worry. Oh, and another thing I love about this book - the fact that the first book, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, the title is sooo relevant in this book. When Pip was planning how to get away with murder, my mind was just like: Ohhhh, so that's why it's called A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I had been wondering about the title for a while, since she technically was just SOLVING murders before 😅

Ravi is always there to support Pippa which builds up their relationship even more. He is so trusting! That's another thing: Naomi, Cara, Jamie, Nat and Connor trust Pippa sooo much, it's unbelievable. I would have been so confused if Pippa had been one of my friends and she turned up at my house telling me to help her break into someone's house, and then tell me that she can't tell me why and I can never ask her why, and that we're not allowed to talk about this again. I would be like what the hell...? Can someone explain...? I would also be too stupid to understand that it's because she's in trouble, I would just think she was acting really weird. 🙄

The police are so annoying. Nhfjdskhd Pippa has solved a case that they've refused to look into twice before and SUCCEEDED and they STILL can't be asked to solve a case she tells them about and she has to work it out herself?

The phone wallpaper is just some fanart of Pippa and Ravi <3

This book didn't have as much, you know, production logs and stuff as the first book, it only had some interview transcripts. Personally, I prefer the layout of the first book but I guess this time she wasn't solving a case that had much evidence online and stuff :/

I'm sorry guys I know this is a really short review and I'm mostly just waffling about stuff but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others and I don't have much good stuff to say xD. If there's another book though then I'm definitely reading it - Pippa and her world have become very real for me lol.

I'm such a master at technology tiktok writing be like-

Anyway, did I think, even for an instance, that it was seriously Andie's dad? No.

That's what proves that this is a good book.

THE WAY HOLLY WROTE THIS BOOK THOUGH! I could literally feel my heart beating when Pippa was getting kidnapped. This book is definitely to be read in one sitting, I left the book for a while to go eat my lunch and I was sooo desperate to find out what happened next I didn't even enjoy my lunch properly I was just thinking about Pippa the whole time :'<

Like I said, this was going to be a five stars but looking back I actually did not like a lot about this book.

Okay guys, that's it from me! If you ahve any ideas for my next blog post then let me know in the coments <3 Like, share and don't forget to check out my website! Byeee <3333
